Summer is still here!

Many of my clients ask me about what SPF grade products one should use. My answer is quite simple: you need SPF, period. It does not really matter, Sun Protection Factor, is needed. Is there a difference between SPF 15, SPF 45 and SPF 100, absolutely? But, not all products are the same.

The SPF grading in the USA goes through quite rigorous process, in addition, more SPF grading means more stickiness…you will have to smear a white layer in order to get a higher SPF benefit.

Also, your SPF requirements depend on your skin type. I have a friend of mine from Charleston, WV, regardless of the SPF he uses, in 5 minutes his face will look like a red tomato. I suggest you start with SPF 15 and see the results for yourself and go upwards if you want more protection.

Minimum routine that one must follow…Aging skin care at home

Skin is the largest organ of our body that helps protect our body from the environmental effects. Our skin consists of three layers. It is very important to take care of top layer of skin as it is equally important for your beauty as well as your body. When the people cross the age of 40 years, their skin starts to lose its grace. Various signs of skin aging are dull complexion, blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles, enlargement of skin pores and freckles. Some signs may appear because of environmental changes such as cold weather, hot weather etc. The most important factor that boosts up your aging process is sun. Sun rays have a strong relationship with melanin. Melanin is a pigment that determines the color of your skin. People with dark complexion have different melanin than those with whiter complexion.

It is a well known fact that in old days women used to take care of their skin by using nature. However, natural skin care products do not work fast. It is obvious that you cannot check the process of skin aging. However, you can slower down it as much as possible. The most important thing for preventing premature skin aging is to take care of your skin. Face, hands and feet are those areas of our body that get exposed to the environment. That is why, these parts of body age earlier than rest of the body. In very cold weather, you might have observed fine lines on the sides of your feet or on your face. This is extrinsic aging that occurs because of environmental effects.

For delaying the process of skin aging, you should adopt a daily skin care routine. For taking care of your skin at home, you must follow these steps carefully:

Facial cleansing

  • Scrubbing and ex-foliation
  • Toning
  • Moisturizing
  • Facial masks

Facial Cleansing is definitely the first and foremost step for delaying skin aging. Our skin comprises a variety of fine pores. These pores are filled up with dirt on a daily basis. The dirt tends to cause pimples and blemishes by clogging your skin pores. It is really important to cleanse your skin and get your pores free of dirt and oil. There are various facial cleansers available in market. They are of a multitude of types such as liquid cleansers, foaming facial washes, soap etc. The best way to cleanse your skin is the use of daily facial wash. You can select a good facial wash keeping the type of your skin in mind.

The next step is getting rid of dead skin cells. This can be easily done with the use of scrubs and ex-foliation. You skin daily gives birth to new skin cells but they are hidden beneath dead skin cells. Ex-foliation and scrubbing helps remove the dead skin cells and bring out new skin cells. This makes your skin youthful and full of life.

Toning is another essential step that most people forget and skip. Most people do not give importance to toning. However, this is one of the most important steps for delaying your skin aging. When you scrub your skin, you are opening your facial pores. Once you open them, they are ready to be filled with dirt and oil. It is very important for you to close them to make your skin smooth and flawless. Toning helps make your skin pores fine and tend to close them. So the toning is an essential step for getting a flawless skin.

In a cold weather, you might have seen your skin becomes dull and rough. This is because of lack of moisture. So moisturizing your skin is really important. There is a variety of facial moisturizers available in market. You can select a good moisturizer by keeping the type of your skin in mind. Facial masks are also really important for keeping your skin fresh and flawless. There are various facial masks for delaying skin aging. Before buying a facial mask keep in mind your facial skin type. You should also be careful about the ingredients of the facial masks. Eating healthy diet and drinking fresh juices is also really effective in keeping your skin fresh and healthy.

5 Most Frequently Asked Beauty Questions (and Answers)…

1. I have dark circles around the eyes, does the treatment help my skin type?
Dark circles and puffiness around the eyes happen for a number reasons: one would think of hereditary reasons, but it is mainly due to sleep deprivation, fatigue, or simply caused by dehydration over a period of long time.
You can work all your magic by putting tea bags and circles of cucumber around the eyes, but the dark circles continue to haunt you unless you get yourself some serious help with one of these products. Now, what about different skin types? We understand there are over seven billion people out there and there with at least seven million skin types and conditions. Does one solution fit the bill? Absolutely not! You can try inexpensive serums, but you will soon realize they don’t go the distance you want them to go. In that respect, you really need to get some serious ingredients to help you, but it all comes with a price.
2. Does everyone have to have crow feet? Is there any solution at all for wrinkles around the eyes?
Many feel this pain. They are not generally aged at all, they don’t mind the wrinkles and lines on their forehead, but they can’t stand the wrinkles around the eyes. Not everyone experiences the crow feet, but many in our studies and observations, many in the English speaking countries are prone to wrinkles around the eyes. The solution that we think best suits your need is a simple Anti-wrinkle eye cream; this cream has demonstrated a revolutionary anti-oxidant formula that utilizes an interconnected chain of silicone based organic polymers that provide remarkable smoothing results to the delicate skin around the eyes.

3. I need to attend my college re-union party, I need to look the best, is there an instant formula out there to help me?
Yes, we understand the effective skin care regimen is more like an ongoing process, but in this world the needs are different. Many people need instant lifts and tightening of their sagging skin to portray a younger looking skin on a given occasion, whether it is a wedding ceremony or a school re-union. Before, we break it down the details of the magic product, we have to warn you, these are absolutely not to be treated as long term products. Give it a good try with this product, this simple product with Phenoxyethanol (C8H10O2) and Magnesium Aluminum Silicate (MgAl2SiO6) has been quite effective in treating 100s of people in the last 4 years. This is really like an instant plastic surgery. It goes well with your current makeup products and needs only 5 minutes that’s it. Believe me, you will certainly look different in your pictures.

4. We live in a cold country, do we need worry about Sunblock? What SPF should we use? Why do we pay $$ for a Sunblock and what do we care about its therapeutic value?
All are good questions. First and foremost, you need sun screen or sunblock regardless of whether you live in a cold country or warm country. As long as you are exposed to sun, you need it! There are certainly cheaper alternatives and spray versus cream choices. We recommend a cream and we also recommend a costly product with good ingredients where they go beyond their primary role as sunblock and over extend themselves into reducing other skin conditions. Take a look at this product, not a famous product at $$ price, but take a look at its ingredients, the advanced formula contains pharmaceutical grade anti-oxidants, acids and minerals. For 60 ml, the money is well worth it. One tube will last for the entire season. The therapeutic value comes from hexa peptides, that will provide the long lasting anti-aging benefits.

5. How do we clean our face? Do we need Cleansers or just the household soap will do?
We saved the best for the last. Imagine, we use soap everyday to clean our body, why not extend the same to our face and be done with it. Really? No, not at all. This articles cover the full details about face cleaning:
In short, everyone needs a separate face cleanser, organic, less geeky products do the magic. I think you can afford to pay $$ for 120 ml that will last for months, take a look this wonderful cleanser which does extremely great job, but not so extreme on the price or harmful effects:

You don’t need Botox from Canada…

One of my co-workers sent a link to this article on GlobalPost, my immediate reaction was “..ugh, people still go through this, these days?!”

With all the regulations aside, the patients are still not sure that they are getting the approved drugs from a known supplier.  So now, it is just a matter of administering the policies, recalling the unapproved dose, getting the new medication – all this going to certainly jack up the price of such Botox injection treatments.

Face Lift, sure everyone needs one!

One of our co-editors defined the cause of wrinkles in a previous post…

As the people age the cells in epidermis become thinner and skin starts to look thinner. Cells in epidermis become less sticky. This makes the skin lose its ability of retain moisture causing dryness. Epidermis cells production and their number are reduced. Rate of collagen decreases and skin becomes less flexible. Sebaceous glands produce less sebum causing dryness of skin. Sweating glands are also reduced. This situation leads to wrinkling and sagging of skin. Skin loses nutrients that repair it and becomes more fragile. Fat cells in subcutaneous also become smaller and result is wrinkles and sagging.

Why do you care for Dark Circles so much?

>Well, the reason is simply because Dark Circles are unsightly, it adds the age and worry factor to any face. No one wants to look old, but at the same time, no one wants to carry a look of worry in their face – Dark Circles and Puffiness around the eyes are notorious in adding age and worry factor to any face or any skin for that matter.

We recently served a worried customer from Canada, she was quite worried – for all her life she had the puffiness and dark circles around the eyes and she didn’t know better. Luckily she came across our Dark Circle Serum on Amazon and two weeks later she saw considerable difference in her appearance – read the feedback yourself to see how happy she was at the end of just two weeks.

When to care for skin?

When to care for skin? This is a common question people ask me all the time… I smile at the question, usually, and say, “…how about starting from this point onwards?”.

I kind of throw a question within the answer itself, not to insult the person, but to say in a nice way – it is not too late start. So in my opinion, skin care questions are similar to “when should I start saving money for retirement?” questions.

Sadly, by the time most people realize that they have one or the other condition, the damage has been already done. It could be severe sun exposure or lack of moisture or work related exposure to chemical/toxic environment, etc. But, there are quite a lot of things one can do, there are peptides and specialized creams that come to rescue.

It is always a great advice, “start early”, but you can only do a systematic corrective action that can minimize the effects that has already occurred on the skin. Especially, the acne marks, dark spots, fine wrinkles, crow feet, dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles around the eyes, etc.

So, if you are reading this blog now – I urge, it is not too late, get on a plan and get started now.

Skin care at the age of 20?

Yes, you’d be equally surprised to hear or read about anything that says, “…skin care at the age of 20″.

In fact, LA Times published an article on 9/21/12, which clearly breaks down the details of do’s for each age group starting from 20 and all the up to 60s and beyond.

Believe it or not, by the time we read such articles about skin care, we are beyond the early age group (say, 20s or 30s). What is left behind is how we care for ourselves beyond 40s. The article mentions how gravity plays a vital role and what is natural as far as wrinkles on the face related to smile lines and cracks on the forehead. But it is sad that article boosts the laser resurfacing to diminish the lines, I wan to raise one strong opposition to that.

While I understand everyone is in the business of making money, everyone cannot afford the expensive treatments let alone determine the NEED versus WANT. We have amazing bunch of products that address specific areas of needs anywhere from wrinkles around the eyes to products that provide instant results.

Lastly, after the 40s decade, it is all about maintenance. In this segment, every ethnic group exhibits a considerable amount of stress on the skin that may require intervention along with targeted treatment.

More on this next week…

When it comes Anti-aging skin care what you know matters

Most people under estimate their skin care needs, especially when you consider the anti-aging skin care needs. It is given that we are born with wrinkle skin, but it does not necessarily mean that the same wrinkles should add additional burden to our real age.

Remember, they say, if you have the habit of flossing your teeth everyday that it takes away one full year from your real age? Similarly, our efforts to hide eye wrinkles, bags under eyes, crow feet, sagging neck, dark circles around the eyes, etc., will have an overall impact on our real age. The treatments to such natural aging conditions could be costly, but what is in the product is important, that is where our reviewers request everyone to pay attention to the ingredients.

You may walk into a typical retail store such as Walmart and find plenty of skin care supplements on the shelf, price ranging anywhere from $5 and up. But why one should pay close to $100 for a cream, which is usually about an ounce or so? Yes, there is a difference – it could be the patented peptide or it could be that hard to find special ingredient that could make all the difference.

What matters most is results – in that, you get what you pay for.

So you have a choice, you can go for fancy label, cheap price, highly marketed brand product, or the best known ingredient that is proven to address the condition you are treating.

In fact, today (9/3/12), one of our customers wrote, “…I ordered the wrinkle reduction cream, your most expensive product, and enjoy the results…”, she was wondering if there is a way we could help her get a discount, at least to cover the shipping costs – since this review was important and most certainly that repeat customer experience, we offered her a 30% coupon code, she’s not only a happy customer but she’s also a repeat customer.

Why one needs to peel in order to hide?

While the research shows several ‘known’ chemical compounds or composite mild acids are used to perform superficial peels to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, in this article we try to go beyond just scratching the surface of peeling.  We have been studying the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology since 2008, and we don’t quote any particular research article here, but the information provided here is our general understanding from studies performed from time to time.

What is peeling?  It is more like application of one or more exfoliating agents (in the form of a cream or a gel) to improve skin rejuvenation and reduce anti-aging symptoms such as fine lines and wrinkles.  In other words, It is superficial removal of dead skin cells along with dirt and oil.

How it is done? You pick a product of your choice, but pay attention to the ingredients, some boast to say they are natural and some contain one of these acids: TriChlorAcetic acid (TCA), Alpha Hydroxy acids, Lactic acid, Salicylic acid, Alpha hydroxy acids, glycolic acid.  Well, don’t be scared, some of these chemical compositions are hard to pronounce, but you don’t need to know their names, just know what they are intended to do and if by any chance your skin has a history or tendency to reject any such acids.  (they are mild and meant to be applied to the face, unlike H2SO4 or HNO3 or HCLO3 – don’t worry about them – these are the chemical compositions of Suphuric Acid, Nitric Acid and Choric acid respectively).

First gently clean your face (you may use an organic cleanser like this one), then apply the peel (just one coat), wait for about 2 minutes, by this time you should feel light tingling or burning sensation, that does not mean the product is bad, in fact it might be a sign that the product is working.  Rinse and pat dry the area.  You need to apply a good moisturizer.

What do you expect? The results generally vary, however 60-80% of the people who try a good peel experience improvement in appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  But, under one condition, you need to follow a routine of peeling at least twice a week. So buy a product which is at least 50 ml, so that you can try it for multiple weeks.

So, there are plenty of tangible benefits – you can treat facial roughness, reduce pigment spots, reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  Good news is at least 50% of the people see very impressive results, considering several skin types, age and other factors, it is rather good.  The acids that we mentioned before are well established and they are harmless.  Don’t just worry about their chemical names, some of them are plant products or natural.  But, what we know is, all of the ingredients are required, it is not just one, they collectively work to produce the greater results – yes, synergy works here as well.

Last line – if anything, you have to try it to believe it, it is not so bad with a gift coupon – use “Gift20″ to save $20 off your first order.  Let us know if
